Dear Lucas,
You are actually already three as I’m writing this, but let’s pretend that you just turned two!
I can’t believe a year has passed! The days of keeping you in the pillow square are over… you are MOBILE! EEEK!!! You’re just one month past your first birthday and you’re already trying to walk and your personality is really starting to shine through. You’re learning to communicate which is a bit frustrating for you and your Mommy and Daddy. Your little brain knows exactly what you want, yet you don’t have the words to tell us. But learning a few words in sign language helps.
Boy, are you stubborn! Which your Daddy likes to point out you got from me. Regardless if that’s true, you do like to do things on your own terms! All part of growing up and learning how to be you! You are also loving, sweet, goofy, happy, curious, hard headed, fearless, silly and the cutest baby (ahem, excuse me, toddler) in the whole wide world!
Year two was another year filled with firsts and here are some of my favorite moments…
First time at the pool
International man, or in this case, baby of leisure
Your first swim lesson
Learning to stand on your own
That time you met the entire Tibbitts side of the family
That time you thought I was poisoning you with a pancake
That time you fooled me into thinking you actually like grilled cheese
Your first steps
Lucas Football (Johnny Football)
You’re walking
Sitting at the table like a big boy AND feeding yourself!
First bike ride
And that time you actually met Johnny Football!
First pumpkin patch
First time at the beach – Port Aransas, TX
Halloween
Can you believe that you’re Longhorn Daddy let me dress you up as Johnny Football?!
That time you smeared yogurt all over your face
Stay Puff Marshmallow baby
Naughty or nice?
First gingerbread house
First bye bye
First “snow”
First fat lip
One of your world famous temper tantrums!
Meeting the Easter Bunny
First haircut
First golf outing
Jammin’ on Granddaddy’s piano
Happy two years old!
Some of your favorite things: Mickey Mouse, Mickey Mouse and Mickey Mouse. Oh and you like to throw balls. EVERYWHERE!
What did I learn about year two? That year one was a breeze. You’ve now entered into toddlerhood. You have the ability to change moods at the speed of light. Now you can walk and you’ve learned that with walking comes freedom! That is until Mommy or Daddy can catch you. You’ve mastered the art of temper tantrums including the tears, arched back and kicking legs. I’m sure you will earn a PhD by the time you turn three. The word “no” has come out of my mouth about 3,783,237,835 times. I no longer get to use the bathroom in peace. Going to the store for milk now takes a minimum of six hours. 5 hours and 57 of those minutes I spend trying to pry your little fingers off of the “car” themed shopping cart as you scream “Noooooooooooooo.” I’m assuming it’s because you want to continue to “drive” said shopping cart all over the store. The bathroom floor is now 6″ deep with water after every bath I give you. But you know what the best part about year two was? You called me Mommy. And that’s what made year two all worth it.
Love,
Mommy
