How is that you are six years old? When did that happen?! I guess it really is true… the days are long but the years are short.
When you turned five last summer, it was like you instantly became this little boy and this past year was spent watching you become more and more independent and self-confident. You’re extremely sociable, love to play with your friends and have endless amounts of energy.
Your imagination drives much of your play and you’re constantly building Monster Jam arenas, crashing cars and you still, NEVER STOP TALKING.
You come up with the most interesting questions about the world around you, and when you ask “why?” I don’t always have the answer. Or I make it up.
You’re bossy and constantly remind Daddy and I that you are the boss. However, you constantly keep us on our toes and there is never a lack of smiles and giggles!
Some of my favorite conversations and quotes:
Lucas: I’m DONE!
Me: Ok. Let me come wipe the royal buttox! No wait. Wipe your own butt. You’re old enough!
Lucas: NO! I told you not until I’m six!
Me: NO! Wipe your own butt!
Lucas: Mommy! You’re giving me the reds!
Lucas: You’re giving me the REDS! You’re making me have an angry red face! (Insert weird attempt at making an angry face at me)
Watching Tom Herman give his press conference after the UT game:
Walt: Lucas please be quiet I need to hear this!
Lucas: But Daddy I’m playing.
Walt: LUCAS BE QUIET
Lucas: Daddy, quit being a grump

Mommy, I’m a really good golfer.
Mommy, you need to practice more to be a good golfer like me.

Happy sixth birthday – fever and all!
I have ended many of these posts with the frustrations from the last year. The growing pains that all three of us have felt. The pains of parenthood. The feelings of will this ever get easy? No, it will never get easy, but it has been more fun. Your Mommy and Daddy try very hard every day to be the best parents we can be and some days we do much better than others. This past year has had its ups and downs – but many more ups – so many more! You are pure joy to be around Lucas and I can’t thank you enough for making me laugh… Every. Single. Day.
And one last thing… you could still learn to use your listening ears MUCH BETTER!
