August 27-28, 2016:
Facebook memories blindsided me with a photo I had posted one year ago on Saturday.
I was not prepared for it at all. It hit me like a ton of bricks. Our Big Bend Adventure was such an amazing trip, but not being able to ever again reminisce about the trip with Mom is well… just plain sucks.
After an emotional start to my Saturday morning, I decided to go out for one of those get your blood pumping, reflect on life, kind of runs. It was great. Until I swallowed a bug. Nice.
I took Lucas to one of his classmate’s birthday party where he partied like a rock star.
After his party, we went to get a haircut at Birds Barbershop. Lucas received the best haircut he has ever gotten! Not only did he get a great haircut, the entire experience was topnotch; friendly staff, free 1980’s style video games and free beer (yes, I said free beer).
Damn good lookin’ kid.
High on sugar and exhausted from the party, I dropped Lucas off at Mimi’s for a sleepover and Walt and I met a few friends out for dinner at The Brass Tap. The Brass Tap is an upscale beer bar that offers 100 different craft beers on tap, a full dining menu, wine, cigars and entertainment. There is also an onsite brewery that visitors can take beer to go in their own growler. Cold beer and hot food. What’s not to like?!
On Sunday, Walt and I headed out to the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa, just outside of Bastrop, Texas, for a round of golf at the Wolfdancer Golf Club. The club was named in honor of the traditional wolf dance of the Tonkawa Indians who once inhabited the area. Cut along the lower Colorado River, you play through native grasses, the rolling prairie, a heavily wooded ridgeline and the river valley plain. And one really weird looking bug.
Despite the emotional start to the weekend and a not so good scoring round of golf, it was another fun weekend in Tibbittsville!
Hope yours was just as great!
